Town of Captives

Thirteen‑year‑old Nina Vale endures abuse in a remote, lawless mountain town in Middle America. Clever and brave, she secretly prepares an escape and helps her captive mother Vanessa flee. Nina stays behind to block their violent abuser and is fatally injured, dying alone in an abandoned barn. Rescued, the brilliant biomedical genius Vanessa reunites with her wealthy family, who bring criminals to justice. After painful trauma recovery, she restarts her cancer‑drug research and launches an anti‑trafficking foundation in Nina’s memory, carrying their shared dream forward and never looking back.
